Screen Size
So the biggest and most disappointing thing to me is the screen size. The next iPhone is rumored to come in both 4.7" and 5.5" varieties, which hopefully will be identical in all other aspects, because I will be opting for the smaller. I've never understood the appeal of the "Phablet" craze, and I feel like my current iPhone 5 screen is already pushing the limits on screen size. Another thing I'm noticing is that HTC and Samsung are starting to introduce the new "Mini" versions of their flagship devices, dropping back to a 4.3" size, showing that the insane Phablet fad is likely drawing to an end, which would mean that Apple would be smarter to just wait for this stupid craze to pass by and for people to settle back down to reasonable phone sizes. The thing is, it's a phone, not a tablet. When you try to do a bigger size it ends up not quite being big enough for tablet tasks, and too big to be an easy phone to use.
Cameras
In this area, not much of a shocker, but apparently it'll have improved cameras! As for the actual specs of the cameras, those rumors have been all over the place, but it seems likely we'll see a megapixel bump, as well as improved sensors and functionality. Just more of the usual really in this department I would expect. They also appear to be redesigning their LED flash again, so it will be interesting to see what the final look of that is.
Design
I hope you're sitting down for this one, because it's a shocker. The design will be all new! Which is obvious based on Apple's trend with iPhones, where they use the same design twice in a row and then make a design change. As for this new design, we've already mentioned the screen size, but it also features an aluminum back, which should lead to less breakage on the phones when they're dropped, so that's a plus! They're also rumored to be adding a sapphire display, which would be all kinds of amazing.
Other Things
The release date is rumored to be late September, following past trends with iPhone release dates. The phone will ship with iOS 8 of course, and will sell millions upon millions of units. My hope is that the 5.5" version is a complete flop so that Apple gets that silly idea out of their heads.
If you think of anything I missed, or if you have anything to say about this fancy new iPhone, let me know in the comments!
